Comprehensive Dental Care
For the whole family
Diagnostic & Preventative Care
We recommend that our highly trained dental hygienist provide gentle dental cleanings to patients twice a year. At these appointments, the hygienist will also reinforce oral hygiene instructions so you know how to maintain best practices for a healthy smile. Maintaining bi-annual cleanings is imperative to keeping your gums healthy, which affects your overall health.
Diagnostic & Preventative Care
At your initial appointment, Dr. Wiley will perform a comprehensive examination. This examination will include radiographs and thoroughly examining all the teeth and surrounding soft tissues in the mouth. A treatment plan that lists all dental needs will be discussed with you, including a timeline of treatment and the financial details. We offer total transparency in our practice so you fully know what to expect before any treatment is performed. We provide kindness and compassion with unmatched attention to detail. Give us a call today to set up a consultation and discover your options at Grants Mill Family Dentistry.
Dental Fillings
Fillings are performed when there are cavities present in the mouth. A filling involves numbing the tooth, then removing the decay and replacing the tooth structure with a resin (tooth-colored) material. The resin is bonded in place. These restorations are given to allow the tooth to look, feel, and perform like natural teeth.
Dental Fillings
Fillings are one of the most commonly performed procedures done in a dental office. Your tooth will be numbed, the decay is removed from inside the tooth, and the filling is placed to replace tooth structure. Typically, there are no restrictions and you are free to resume normal activities following the procedure.
Crown & Bridge Restorations
If there is significant decay present, a full-coverage restoration (rather than a filling) is indicated. A crown fits onto the tooth like a “cap,” giving it strength and preventing future fractures or pain. The tooth will be modified so a crown will properly fit, then a quick scan is made of the tooth using our intraoral scanner to send to the dental laboratory. Patients love this added technology because there are no more goopy impressions!
Crown & Bridge Restorations
At this appointment, a temporary crown will be fitted on your tooth before you leave. Once the final crown is prepared and finished it is sent back to the office and checked for accuracy before being cemented in place. Bridges, additionally, are multi-unit crowns that consist of three or more crowns splinted together. Bridges are indicated when there is a missing tooth between two teeth. The two outside teeth serve as the “anchoring teeth” that support the crown between them, and therefore restore the missing space. As with single-unit crowns, the same process is involved and they are also permanently cemented in place once retrieved back from the lab. These restorations are custom created to be long-lasting, and as natural looking and feeling as possible.
Extractions & Dentures
We always encourage our patients to save and restore teeth before electing to remove them. However, sometimes teeth become unrestorable and must be extracted to remove pain or infection. Extractions involve numbing the area and gently removing the tooth, then allowing the area to heal. We then make a plan to restore the missing space in order to prevent the shifting of the other teeth.
Extractions & Dentures
Dentures can replace a few or all teeth. Impressions are made of the gums, then multiple appointments may follow to ensure the fit and look of the dentures are optimal. Finally, the denture is processed at a dental laboratory and you can take your new prosthesis home. In some cases, especially with lower dentures, implants are necessary to help make the denture more stable and retentive. We can attach your denture to implants in our office so that functioning with the denture will be easier. Both dentures and implants are made to look and feel like your natural teeth. These enhancements improve self-esteem and functioning, while also improving your oral health.
Implant Restorations
Implants are a wonderful way to restore missing teeth. This is a surgical procedure that will be performed by an oral surgeon. After the implant has properly healed it is restored with a crown in our office. We would love to provide more information on why implants are an amazing option for restoring teeth.
Implant Restorations
Placing the implant itself is a simple, surgical procedure performed by an oral surgeon. After a period of healing, Dr. Wiley will restore the implant with a crown. You would take care of the implant as you would a natural tooth.
Other Enhancements
Night Guards
Many people grind their teeth or have jaw-clenching habits. Also known as bruxism, this is an abnormal condition that can damage teeth, as well as cause pain and sensitivity. While it mostly occurs at night during sleeping, it can happen also due to misaligned teeth or stress. Nightguards are an excellent remedy to protect natural teeth as well as the dental restorations you’ve invested in. Custom night guards fit in your mouth perfectly and can be fabricated from a simple dental impression.
KöR Whitening
Dr. Wiley is a proud provider of KöR Whitening - the most effective whitening system in the world. KöR Whitening gels are fully potent, are kept in continuous refrigeration from the time of manufacture to the time it reaches our office, and are specially formulated to whiten any teeth - including tetracycline staining. With KöR, amazing results can be guaranteed for everyone.
For a quick and convenient option, Dr. Wiley also offers Opalescence Go take home whitening trays. These trays come with 10% or 15% carbamide peroxide and are great for mild cases or maintenance.
Botox
Dr. Wiley is proud to offer Botox in office! Botox relaxes muscles, therefore temporarily reducing the wrinkles in targeted areas to create a smooth appearance. Common areas to treat with Botox include the forehead, around the eyes (crow's feet), in between the eyebrows, and around the lips. In addition to aesthetics, Botox can even help treat dental conditions like TMD and its symptoms, such as bruxism and clenching. We would first schedule a consultation and "map" all specific areas to target, based on a customized treatment plan. Ask us about Botox today and we'd be happy to schedule a consultation.
Injectable Flowable Composite
Injectable Flowable Composite is a more conservative veneer option. This is essentially known as "bonding," and is basically a bonded composite veneer. Unlike traditional veneers, it requires no shaving of your teeth, no anesthetic, and is completed within one office visit. A diagnostic wax-up is prepared beforehand to show you the end result before we begin any treatment. While Dr. Wiley does offer traditional veneers, this procedure also delivers a beautifully natural result that can last for a lifetime
